10th - 14th (17th) July 2019 Coastal Culture Week and Tvedestrand Regatta
This weekend two major events are held and the harbour area comes alive with lots of people, boats and live music.
Kystkulturuka (Coastal Cultural Week 10 - 17 July) offers a varied program from small intimate concerts, to workshops, monks festival and large open air concert at Furøya - to mention a few of the activities. See www.kystkulturuka.com or Visitnorway's website or for further information.
The Tvedestrands regatta (10 - 14 July) is arranged by Norway's largest boat sports club, Tvedestrand Racing Club. Here there will be boat races, concerts and much more.
Located a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The waterpark is Norway's largest outdoor swimming park with sandy beach and “icebergs”, floating elements, kayaks and canoe loans. Everything is free. The park is open every day during the summer season between 11:00 and 18:00.
Southern Norway's archipelago - Island hopping
There are many islands and islets in the Tvedestrand archipelago. The archipelago comprises the coastline from the Oksefjord in the southwest to Gjeving in the northeast and the islands outside. Visit the beautiful Sandøya with art galleries and small handicraft businesses and much more or enjoy the car-free island Lyngør which has been voted Northern Europe's best-preserved village. Furøya is another beautiful island in Tvedestrand Fjord accessible by boat or ferry.
One of Norway's largest and best golf facilities with an 18-hole main track, a 9-hole challenging Pay & Play course, as well as football golf located on the card hole course. The resort is situated in scenic surroundings on Nes Verk only 10 km. from Tvedestrand Fjordhotell. Right by the club you can also find nice hiking trails that are clearly marked. Næs Iron Works Museum
"Næs Jernverksmuseum" is an authentic industrial environment dating back to the 17th century. All the main buildings that made up an old ironworks have been preserved. There are guided tours and films that tell about hundreds of years of ironworks history.
The zoo in Kristiansand (Dyreparken)
Located about an hour's drive from Tvedestrand - this the country's largest family attraction. Here children can experience 150 different animal species from all parts of the world. Take a train ride through the park, meet people from the Cardamom village (a childrens play) or take a pirate dock with “Captain Sabeltann”. The park is open from 10 am 10 - 19 in high season.
Raet National Park is a marine national park perfect for kayaking, windsurfing, boating and hiking - as well as diving, snorkelling, swimming and fishing. In Raet National Park, fishing is permitted – you’ll find cod and pollock - and of course shells, crabs and lobster.
